Peter Ainsley Girvan was 22 when he was shot and killed on the night of December 28, 2015. The shooting happened in the 1100 block of Wilkins Drive in York County; Girvan was a James City County resident and was taken from the scene in one of two vehicles to a local hospital, where he died.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing two cars filled with people having a loud discussion before both vehicles sped away. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation, but authorities released no descriptions of suspects and provided little information about a possible motive.
