On the evening of August 15, 2015, 16-year-old Jessie Jimmy Paige Jr. was shot and killed near 13th and Pierce Streets in Lynchburg, Virginia. Two others were wounded in the same incident: 21-year-old Dakota Scott and a 17-year-old, both of whom survived with non-life-threatening injuries. Paige was a rising junior at Heritage High School and was remembered by family for his love of sports and fashion.
Police treated Paige’s death as part of a series of at least six related incidents in the area that investigators believed were tied to gang and drug activity and to targeted conflicts between specific groups. Fear of retaliation reportedly discouraged witnesses from coming forward, and despite following leads no arrests have been announced specifically for Jessie Paige’s murder.
A few days after the shooting, four people — 37-year-old Stephen Spinner, 31-year-old Eric Payne, 23-year-old Christopher Thomas, and 18-year-old Orlando Oliver II — were arrested on charges connected to gang activity, but authorities did not directly link those arrests to Paige’s killing. If anyone has information about the shooting near 13th and Pierce Streets, please share what is known.
