A Sunday afternoon gathering in a Reston condominium on May 17, 2015, ended with one man dead and several people charged. Rashad Kejuan Daye, 24 and from the Herndon area, was fatally shot inside an apartment on Stoneview Square during what police later described as an attempted robbery that turned violent. Daye was one of five men in the apartment of 22-year-old Kevin Baldwin when a struggle over a gun resulted in Daye being struck and killed; another visitor was grazed by a bullet.
Fairfax County Police arrested three visitors — 22-year-old Eddie Rodriguez of Woodbridge, 18-year-old Dominique May of Reston, and 21-year-old Jalan Merrill of the Herndon area — charging them with attempted robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Merrill’s case was later nolle prosequi. Authorities determined Baldwin was the shooter but that he acted in self-defense and he faced no charges for the killing.
If anyone knew Rashad Kejuan Daye or was in that condominium community that afternoon, please share information that could clarify what happened.
