Carrington Rondell Banks, 34, was shot and killed in his Lynchburg, Virginia home on November 22, 2014. The altercation began during a dispute with his roommate, Garry Antione Smith, who had moved in after being released from jail the previous December. The fight reportedly started when Smith disrespected Banks’s 8-year-old son; Smith then shot Banks point-blank in the chest, a single wound that proved fatal.
Garry Antione Smith Jr. was arrested and charged in connection with the killing. Charges included second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of cocaine. The case proceeded through plea negotiations and sentencing developments. Banks’s family remembers him as a loving father who had plans to buy a home across the street from his parents.
Did anyone in Lynchburg know Carrington or the household and have information about what happened that night?
