On June 19, 2014, 27-year-old Julio Caesar Urrutia-Erazo was confronted with friends in the 3800 block of Russell Road in Alexandria, Virginia, by a group of men flashing gang signs and asking about gang affiliation. One of the men, identified as Jesus Alejandro Chavez, produced a firearm and fired a single, point-blank shot into Urrutia-Erazo’s neck. He was taken to a nearby hospital and died two days later on June 21, 2014.
Investigators determined the attack was a case of mistaken identity: Urrutia-Erazo was not a rival gang member. The killing was linked to a clique of MS-13 known as the Park View Locos Salvatruchas. Authorities named three principal suspects in the murder — Jesus Alejandro Chavez, Jose Del Cid, and Genaro Sen Garcia — as part of a larger federal indictment alleging multiple violent crimes across Northern Virginia.
Does anyone have information about Julio Caesar Urrutia-Erazo, his time in Alexandria, or what happened on Russell Road that night?
