David Emmanuel-Sinclair Copeland was 23 when he was killed on May 15, 2014. He was shot after midnight in the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard in Chesterfield, Virginia, while home on a college break from Louisiana. Copeland had gone outside with family and friends after noticing unusual activity at their apartment complex. They encountered two people; after a brief conversation the two suspects produced firearms and opened fire.

Copeland and others ran for cover; he was found behind one of the buildings and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses described the suspects as Black males in their late teens or early 20s who fled on foot. Chesterfield County Police and Copeland’s family continue to investigate, and a reward that includes a contribution from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been offered for information leading to an arrest.

Does anyone who lived in the area that spring remember seeing or hearing anything that night that could help solve this case?
