I hope they all got life without parole. Police officers put themselves in danger every day. They are verbally abused by some of the public and just outright killed. They don't even make a whole lot of money. What a thankless job. Rest in peace Officer Pocceschi.

On June 23, 2003, Virginia Beach police officer Rodney Freddrick Pocceschi, 33, was shot and killed during a traffic stop that began at about 3:24 a.m. on Dam Neck Road. The vehicle had been involved in a robbery at a nearby IHOP; its driver, 21-year-old LeKeith Devon Speller, exited and opened fire. Pocceschi returned fire; both men were wounded and collapsed. A passerby stopped to help and flagged down another officer.

Pocceschi was taken to a hospital and died at 4:05 a.m.; Speller was pronounced dead at the scene. Speller was a convicted felon with a history of violent crimes and was wanted on several warrants. His accomplice Shawn Anthony Zhe and an 18-year-old IHOP employee, Christina Marie Tatem, were arrested and charged in connection with the robbery.

What information can anyone offer about the events at the IHOP or the hours leading up to that traffic stop?
