Ida Mae Slusher Moses was 21 and eight and a half months pregnant when she was found murdered in her Ironto, Virginia home on October 3, 1978. Her husband discovered her nude body in their bedroom; she had been shot three times in the head.
Authorities say the suspect was identified as Buddy Earl Justus, a drifter. He was arrested after investigators, working from a description of his car, staked out an orphanage in Grundy where he had lived and where two siblings still resided. Justus reportedly confessed to robbing and murdering Ida Mae Moses; the .22 revolver taken from the Moses home was found in his possession. He was tried, convicted of capital murder, and later executed.
Are there readers who remember Ida Mae or have any information about her life in Ironto that could add context to the case?
