Jennifer Lewis was 47 when she was found dead from a gunshot wound at her Woodfield Boulevard home in Franklin, Indiana, on November 12, 2022. Responding officers initially treated the scene as a possible suicide, but investigators later concluded the circumstances were suspicious. The firearm was found placed on her chest, and multiple shell casings at the scene did not match the initial account given by her long-time boyfriend, 49-year-old Johnathan Z. Baker, who was present when police arrived.
Lewis and Baker had a documented history of domestic disputes and repeated police calls to the home; neighbors reported frequent arguments and altercations. Forensic analysis of Lewis’s phone recovered a voicemail in which she screamed no, no, no while Baker spoke about her sending him to prison, and the message ended with Lewis saying she would call the police. Investigators ruled her death a homicide.
Six months later Baker was charged with voluntary manslaughter; he remained in custody on a probation violation from the day officers arrived. He later pleaded guilty and received a 24-year prison sentence for Lewis’s death. Does anyone have information about the couple’s history in Franklin or the days leading up to November 12, 2022?
