Temario Stokes Jr. was 16 when he was fatally shot while waiting for his school bus in Greenwood, Indiana, on the morning of August 25, 2022. He had been a student at Whiteland Community High School for only four days and was a new resident of the Summerfield Village subdivision. Witnesses said an 18-year-old male approached the bus stop at Winterwood Drive and Providence Drive wearing a black hoodie and shot Temario multiple times before fleeing on foot. Temario’s mother heard the gunfire and ran outside to find her son on the ground.
Police traced the shooting to 18-year-old Tyrique Sevin Radford El, who lived about a mile from Temario and was described as an acquaintance. Investigators linked a recent dispute involving Temario, his younger sibling and another juvenile over a stolen dirt bike to the case. A Taurus G2C 9mm handgun was recovered from a nearby cornfield after Radford El discarded it. Radford El was arrested the same day and confessed, saying he had shot Temario more times than necessary and continued firing as Temario tried to run away.
Did anyone in Greenwood see or hear anything that morning that could add detail about the shooter’s approach or what happened after the shots were fired?
