Thomas Combs, 53, was found dead in Dale Cemetery in Connersville, Indiana, on the morning of August 17, 2022. The Fayette County Coroner ruled the cause of death a gunshot wound; investigators believe he was killed sometime between the late hours of August 16 and the early morning of August 17. The Indiana State Police opened an investigation and asked the public for help, seeking anyone who heard a gunshot or saw anything unusual near the cemetery.

The inquiry continued for more than a year. In early 2024 authorities arrested Joshua Farmer and charged him with two counts of murder: one for Combs and one for 47-year-old Joshua Durham, whose body was found a little over three weeks after Combs’ death near the Connersville City Cemetery. Police say Farmer was linked to both homicides by DNA and ballistic analysis, and during interrogation he indicated he might be responsible for four deaths; details about the other two possible victims have not been released.

Anyone with information about Combs, his movements in August 2022, or unusual activity around Dale Cemetery is asked to come forward.
