Kylie McKee, 25, was found fatally wounded in her car after shots were reported near the intersection of Springland Avenue and Roeske Avenue in Michigan City, Indiana. The shooting occurred the early morning of Sunday, July 17, 2022; officers arriving at about 1:50 a.m. discovered a vehicle off the road and an unresponsive woman in the driver’s seat with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite officers’ life-saving efforts, Kylie McKee died at Franciscan Health Michigan City and detectives opened a homicide investigation.

Investigators identified a person of interest, and a judge later found probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Robert Dervate Curry of Michigan City. Curry was arrested and charged with McKee’s murder and was being held at the LaPorte County Jail on $1,000,000 bond; his initial court appearance was scheduled for July 26. McKee, a 2015 Crown Point High School graduate and employee at Zorn Brew Works, Co., was remembered for enjoying time with family and friends.
