LeBrishia Hobbs was 16 and a Southside High School student with hopes of becoming a pediatrician when she was shot and later died. On July 6, 2022, she was found unresponsive in the rear yard of her home in the 500 block of Picadilly Circle in Fort Wayne with a gunshot wound to the head. Transported to a local hospital, she remained in critical condition for more than a month and succumbed to her injuries on August 23, 2022; the Allen County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.
Investigators tied three other teenagers to the case. Elaysha N. Underwood, 16 at the time, was arrested and initially charged with attempted murder; that charge was upgraded to murder after Hobbs died. Jalayah Brown, also 16, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. A 17-year-old, Raymond Washington III, was arrested in Texas and charged as an adult with murder, felony murder, and robbery. Prosecutors said the motive related to a belief that images on Hobbs’s cellphone implicated the female suspects; Underwood reportedly had a past sexual relationship with Hobbs.
If anyone knew LeBrishia or has information about her shooting, please share what you know with investigators.
