Andrea Aguirre, 37, was found dead on the bedroom floor of her Anderson, Indiana home on the evening of Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Her estranged husband discovered her after she failed to respond to his calls. Initial reports suggested a gunshot wound, but the autopsy determined she died from multiple stab wounds. Her two young children were in the house at the time and were found unharmed.

Investigators identified 36-year-old Alexander Miranda Ortiz as a suspect. Ortiz, described in reports as Aguirre’s boyfriend, fled Anderson in her silver Acura and left with her bank and credit cards. Cell phone data traced his travel through Michigan, back to Indiana, then Ohio and Massachusetts; he was arrested at a Massachusetts rest stop on December 29, 2021, in Aguirre’s vehicle. Court filings say Aguirre and Ortiz had argued about finances and alleged infidelity in the days before her death, and that surveillance placed Ortiz leaving the house shortly after the last activity on her phone, recorded just after midnight on December 21.

A jury later convicted Ortiz of murder and fraud, and he received a 65-year sentence. Does anyone have information about Andrea’s life in Anderson or recall seeing her silver Acura in late December 2021?
