On November 6, 2021, Elizabeth Hall, 74, and her husband John Hall, 74, were found shot to death in their Mulberry Street home in Mount Vernon, Indiana. A family member who had been unable to reach the couple for two days discovered their bodies; Elizabeth was located in a downstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to her chest and John was found in an upstairs bedroom. Authorities treated the deaths as a double homicide.

Investigators identified 28-year-old Austin Kusturin as a suspect after a thumbprint on John Hall’s missing phone matched Kusturin. Surveillance footage and witness statements placed him near the Hall residence the night of the killings, and a search of a storage unit linked to Kusturin and his mother yielded a gun owned by John Hall and an AR-15 style rifle he had purchased. Kusturin denied involvement at first, saying he bought stolen phones from someone else, and was arrested on November 9, 2021 and charged with two counts of murder.

Elizabeth and John are described as a devoted couple who were active in their community; Elizabeth had recently spoken with the mayor about public safety. Does anyone have information about the Halls, their routines, or sightings in Mount Vernon around November 5–6, 2021?
