On the night of October 3, 2021, 46-year-old Raymond Waymire was shot and killed after a road dispute in Anderson, Indiana. Waymire, described as a kind-hearted father and grandfather who enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, had been riding with his girlfriend when a car nearly struck his motorcycle at an intersection on Webster Street. He pursued the vehicle and confronted its occupants at a second intersection, where an altercation occurred and a passenger, 19-year-old Zachary Hileman, shot Waymire.

A grainy home video shows the brief confrontation before the car left the scene. Waymire walked back toward his girlfriend, said he had been shot, and then collapsed. Hileman left but turned himself in to the Anderson Police Department about 19 hours later, claiming self-defense and saying Waymire had struck him. Investigators reported no visible injuries on Hileman’s face; two juvenile occupants of the car told police Waymire had struck him.

Hileman was charged with murder and carrying a handgun without a license; the other occupants were not charged. Does anyone have information about the confrontation that led to this shooting or recall seeing the car involved that night?
