On December 22, 2020, around 2:00 p.m., a double shooting at a residence on Kinsey Street in Richmond, Indiana left 37-year-old Carlotta Latoya Dorae Wilkerson dead. Richmond Police officers responding to reports of gunfire found two women with gunshot wounds; emergency responders pronounced Wilkerson dead at the scene. The other victim, 30-year-old Lamita Vansickle, was seriously injured and taken first to Reid Health in Richmond and later transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further care.
Wilkerson was remembered by family and friends as outspoken and social, enjoying bingo and casino visits and often wearing wigs. Detectives canvassed the area and interviewed witnesses while seeking surveillance footage, but as of the latest public updates no suspect has been named and no arrests have been announced. The motive remains unclear. If anyone knew Carlotta or witnessed activity on Kinsey Street that afternoon, please share information with investigators.
