Sirus Scott, 29, was fatally shot in Michigan City, Indiana, on the evening of April 5, 2020. He and his girlfriend were walking toward her vehicle outside his home when a silver four-door Ford Fusion pulled into the alley and a passenger leaned out and opened fire, striking Scott. He is described as outgoing and always smiling.

The Michigan City Police Department launched a homicide investigation and made arrests within days. Twenty-year-old Christopher Deal was arrested on a charge of aiding, inducing, or causing murder; Deal told police he was the driver of the Ford Fusion and said his brother fired the shots. Twenty-two-year-old Mark Wright Jr. was later arrested after a brief foot pursuit and charged with Scott’s murder. Both men were booked into the La Porte County Jail and held without bond pending initial court appearances.
