On the night of October 28, 2018, 21-year-old Kemontie Johnson, a Black man from Indianapolis, was fatally shot at a crowded Halloween party at Eagle Pointe Golf Resort in Bloomington. The event, called A Nightmare in B-Town, drew an estimated 200 to 300 people, many of them Indiana University students. Violence broke out shortly after midnight; Johnson was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Another person suffered critical injuries.

Investigators faced difficulties after the shooting because few partygoers cooperated and accounts offered conflicting descriptions of the shooter. Only a small number of attendees gave statements to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. Johnson, a Lawrence North High School graduate and known Bloomington figure, ran a clothing company called Silent Hustle and had played football.

No arrests or public identifications of suspects have been announced and the case remains unsolved. If anyone who attended that event or has information about the shooting can help, please come forward.
