Jason Lewis was 27 when he was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Genesis Apartments in Richmond, Indiana. His body was discovered the morning of August 2, 2018; a pathological examination showed at least four fatal wounds to his torso and multiple gunshot wounds to his head and face. Witnesses reported an assailant chased Lewis before shooting him repeatedly.
Investigators identified Michael Rashuan Carr as the suspect; he was arrested and charged with murder. During the case, evidence introduced at trial alleged Carr suspected Lewis of cooperating with law enforcement in an earlier investigation that led to Carr’s 2013 drug conviction and five-year prison term. The trial record also included evidence that Carr had offered $10,000 to have several potential prosecution witnesses killed.
A jury found Michael Rashuan Carr guilty and recommended life without parole, a sentence later imposed by a judge. Does anyone have additional information about Lewis’s life in Richmond or about the events that morning?
