Antwone-Tremell Montre Carpenter, an 18-year-old senior at Richmond High School, was shot and later died from his injuries after being found in the front yard of an apartment building on North 15th Street in Richmond on May 29, 2018. Police were called about a person down around 12:15 a.m.; Carpenter was taken first to Reid Hospital and then airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital for surgery, where he succumbed to his wounds. He was days away from graduation and remembered at school as an energetic student-athlete who played football and basketball and had a contagious personality.
Within days investigators identified 18-year-old Austin Neathery as the primary suspect; a murder warrant was issued and Neathery was described as armed and dangerous and believed to have fled. U.S. Marshals located and arrested Neathery near an apartment complex in Speedway, Indiana, on June 13, 2018, and he was booked into the Marion County Jail on a murder charge pending transfer to Wayne County. Does anyone from Richmond remember Carpenter or have information about the night he was shot?
