Allayzia Jackson-Johnson, 17 and known to family as Laay, was shot and killed on August 31, 2017, after a confrontation in a Muncie courthouse parking lot. The confrontation followed the sentencing of her brother, Deshaun Jackson, to 25 years; tensions were between family members who supported Deshaun and a relative, Marilyn Wilson, who had testified against him.

Allayzia reportedly reached through an open window and punched Wilson, who was 43. Wilson then discharged a firearm; Allayzia was struck in the chest and later pronounced dead at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Armed courthouse security had earlier escorted Wilson and a male companion to their vehicle because of the tense atmosphere.

The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office investigated and in December 2017 announced no criminal charges would be filed against Wilson, concluding she acted in self-defense. Does anyone have additional information about the courthouse confrontation or the people present that day?
