Bishop A. Oliver, 22, was fatally shot on June 16, 2017, on the 100 block of Richmond Avenue in Richmond, Indiana. Officers arrived about 11:45 p.m. and found Oliver and 27-year-old Shawn W. Sams dead from gunshot wounds on a front porch. A third man, Christopher M. Crawley, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital.
Investigators concluded the shooting was not random: the three men were acquainted and the violence followed an argument between two of them, though officials have not released specifics of the dispute. Despite witnesses and investigative efforts, the case has gone cold. No arrests or suspects have been publicly named.
Oliver is remembered in his community for being helpful and having received Good Samaritan awards twice. Does anyone with information about that June 16, 2017 altercation or the people involved want to come forward?
