Shawn Wesley Sams was 27 when he was killed on June 16, 2017, in Richmond, Indiana. Police were called just before midnight to a home on the 100 block of Richmond Avenue, where Sams and 22-year-old Bishop Oliver were found with fatal gunshot wounds on the front porch; a third man, Chris Crawley, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators concluded the shooting was not random and grew out of an argument among men who knew each other. At least four witnesses were interviewed and detectives executed a search warrant at the residence; the bodies of Sams and Oliver were sent for autopsy. A juvenile was reportedly arrested on a misdemeanor charge linked to the incident, but no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced in the murders.

Anyone with information about that night or the people involved is urged to contact the Richmond Police Department.
