Fairely Griffie, 19, was shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Speedway, Indiana, on June 4, 2017. The shooting followed a birthday party Griffie had attended with three friends, where an encounter with another man, later identified as Jordan Taber, drew attention; witnesses reported tension between the two but also saw them shake hands during the gathering. As Griffie and his friends left, he walked away from their vehicle and moments later multiple gunshots were fired.

Griffie was found with several gunshot wounds to the chest. His friends tried to place him in their car to get help, and one witness later said Taber emerged and fired at the vehicle. First responders found Griffie struggling to breathe; he died at the scene. Investigators identified 20-year-old Jordan Taber as the primary suspect; a witness identified him as the shooter and said Taber picked up a gun lying near Griffie after the shooting.

Taber was arrested in Illinois on December 24, 2017, extradited to Indianapolis, tried in March 2019, and a jury found him guilty of murder. He received a 60-year sentence on March 27, 2019. Did anyone at the party or in Speedway that night notice anything unusual before Griffie left the car?
