Donald Parker Jr., 29, was shot and killed in Brookville, Indiana, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 8, 2017. The incident began when Parker’s grandmother, concerned about his erratic behavior, went to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for help. A deputy located Parker at the State Route 101 residence and found him holding a gun. Backup from two Brookville Police Department officers arrived and Parker moved to the porch holding two weapons.

Officers gave numerous commands to drop the weapons; Parker did not comply and allegedly pointed a firearm in the direction of the officers. The two Brookville officers fired, striking Parker. EMS was called, officers provided first aid, and Parker was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Indiana State Police investigated the officer-involved shooting, and the Franklin County Prosecutor later concluded the officers’ actions were justified and filed no criminal charges.

Parker had prior interactions with police, including an arrest in December 2016 for allegedly kicking an officer, and his wife had sought a protective order citing alcohol and drug problems. Does anyone have information about Parker’s final hours or the events at the State Route 101 home?
