On the night of October 19, 2014, gunfire erupted inside a duplex on the 600 block of North Oxford Street on Indianapolis’ near-east side. Officers arrived about 8:46 p.m. and found numerous shell casings in the entryway and 26-year-old Ulric R. Reid, a Black man also known as Ork, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Reid died at the scene despite emergency care.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives opened a homicide investigation and early inquiries suggested the shooting might have been narcotics-related, though investigators described the motive as murky. No immediate arrests were reported. Reid was later memorialized with services at a funeral home on East 38th Street.
Does anyone who knew Ulric or who was in that neighborhood that evening have information that could help solve this case?
