On February 20, 2010, 24-year-old Elizabeth Renae Newcomer was found shot to death in a home in Indianapolis, Indiana, alongside 61-year-old Linda Nickle, who had also been fatally shot. The two victims were discovered by a friend of Linda’s son after the son asked the friend to check on them when they could not be reached by phone. Elizabeth’s fiancé, who was Linda’s son, was out of town at the time.
Investigators focused on 63-year-old Elwin Hart, Linda’s boyfriend and a resident of the same home. Hart reportedly contacted police less than half an hour after the bodies were found and told officers he was the person they were looking for. Police said they believed the shootings arose from a domestic dispute; investigators were told Hart was unhappy that Elizabeth and her children had moved into the house he shared with Linda. Further details released during the investigation linked the deaths to a possible drugs dispute after Elizabeth allegedly found a baggie she believed to be cocaine and took it with Linda to have it tested.
An arrest was made and charges were filed against Hart in connection with the murders. Did anyone who knew Elizabeth, Linda, or the household dynamics around that time notice escalating tensions or have information about the accused that could shed light on what happened?
