On July 2, 2017, 19-year-old Solomon Patrick was shot and killed in front of a home on Tachevah Drive in Cathedral City, California. He had been at a house party when an argument escalated; Patrick was struck three times in the chest and died at the scene. Witnesses described three Hispanic male suspects, aged about 16 to 22, who fled immediately after the shooting.
Patrick was a former Desert Hot Springs High School football player whose death deeply affected his school and community. Family and friends held a vigil and his high school later retired his jersey number. His mother, Melissa Bates, has spoken publicly about her grief and urged those responsible to feel remorse and come forward. No arrests have been announced and the Cathedral City Police Department continues to seek information that could lead to the suspects’ capture.
If anyone has information about the shooting or the individuals seen fleeing that night, please contact the Cathedral City Police Department.
