On October 30, 2022, a violent domestic incident at a home in the 1000 block of Timberwood Trail in Hazelwood, Missouri, ended with the death of 60-year-old Daniel Crousby. Officers found Crousby with a gunshot wound to the head; he was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators determined the death was a homicide.
Police say the 911 caller was Crousby’s wife, 55-year-old Tammy Townsend. Court documents quoted in charging papers say Townsend told the dispatcher she had shot her husband because he had made her mad. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Townsend with second-degree murder and armed criminal action; she was held on a cash-only bond as the case proceeded.
What details about that night or the relationship would help explain how the situation escalated to a fatal shooting?
