In the afternoon chill of a late January day, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the Kingsway East neighborhood in St. Louis, leaving a scene of tragedy that would claim the life of 21-year-old Davion Rayford. On that Saturday, January 29, 2022, Rayford, a young Black man, was caught in a quadruple shooting that also ended the lives of 18-year-old Armaud Green and 22-year-old Jeremiah Curry, and left a fourth man, aged 20, in critical condition.
