On the afternoon of August 22, 2021, police in St. Louis, Missouri, were summoned to the Fairground neighborhood following reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the 4000 block of North Grand Boulevard near Fairground Park, officers discovered the body of a 29-year-old Black male named Cameron Jones lying on the ground.
