On August 13, 2020, Shonay Majo Persinger, a 24-year-old woman from Independence, Missouri, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. The Independence Police Department responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the 9300 block of E. 16th Street. Upon arrival, officers found Persinger deceased from a gunshot wound, with a spent 40 caliber shell casing found near her body.
