On October 28, 2019, 56-year-old Clenelle 'CJ' Johnson, a general contractor and owner of Major League Construction, was shot and killed in the Carondelet neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Johnson was reportedly working on a rehabilitation project on Colorado Avenue when he and a partner realized they needed assistance moving materials. Seeking help for the labor job, Johnson walked to a nearby property in the 1000 block of Bates Street, where another renovation was underway.
