In the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening quiet, leaving a young man fatally wounded. On that Friday, Michael Murphy, a 21-year-old male, was riding in a car with a 22-year-old companion when an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire on their vehicle in the 4200 block of Shaw Boulevard. The attack, which occurred around 7:50 p.m., left Murphy with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
