On the evening of Monday, April 18, 2016, tragedy struck at a residence in the 5000 block of Fairway Drive in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., 30-year-old Richard Alan Cushingberry was inside his home when he heard a knock at the front door. Upon opening the door, he was immediately fired upon by an unknown assailant. Richard sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest during the ambush.
