In the quiet, early morning hours of Sunday, September 12, 2021, a burst of violence shattered the peace on Short Street in Darlington, South Carolina, leaving a family and community in mourning. It was there that 47-year-old Tyree L. Simon, a male resident of the city, was found suffering from gunshot wounds shortly after midnight. His life was tragically cut short, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Darlington County Coroner, Todd Hardee, would later rule his death a homicide.
