In the late hours of a September evening in 2014, a life was tragically cut short in the parking lot of a North Charleston nightclub. Barrett L. Kinlock, a 30-year-old Black male, was outside the Big Rock Club on Kimbell Road when he was fatally shot multiple times on September 13, 2014. The sudden violence left his family and the community in a state of shock and mourning. A celebration of his life was held a week later as those who knew him grappled with the senseless loss.
