In the winter of 2021, the life of 43-year-old Brian Raviv Bregman, a male attorney and reserve police officer, was cut short in what police have described as a targeted home invasion and robbery. On February 3, 2021, officers from the Laurel Police Department responded to a call for a possible burglary at Bregman's residence in the 500 block of Main Street, which also housed his law office. Upon arrival, they discovered Bregman deceased inside, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
