Do you know who murdered John Beamus? In the summer of 2010, the life of John Bernard 'Dookie' Beamus Jr., a 32-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in the Parkland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, Beamus was shot and killed. He was in his wheelchair in his own front yard on South 28th Street, a familiar spot for the friendly neighborhood figure. Beamus was not alone in his final moments; his childhood friend, Pernell Dillard, was also killed in the attack.
