In the spring of 2019, the life of Deshawn McCoy, a 26-year-old Black male, was cut short in a burst of violence on the streets of East Baltimore. On the evening of March 26th, in the 800 block of North Belnord Avenue, gunfire erupted, leaving two men wounded. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Deshawn McCoy suffering from gunshot wounds to his head and back. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
