In the early morning hours of September 15, 2015, the quiet of a New Carrollton neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. A 36-year-old male, Darius Edward White of Accokeek, Maryland, was found lying outside a residence in the 5400 block of 85th Avenue. Responding to a call about a man lying on the ground, New Carrollton Police officers arrived at approximately 2:45 a.m. to find White suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
