In the predominantly Latino immigrant community of Riverdale, Maryland, a sudden burst of violence on a late September evening in 2009 shattered the peace and left a family mourning the loss of a young life. Sixteen-year-old Marcos Medina, a male of Latino descent, was caught in the midst of a heated argument that tragically escalated to gunfire in the 5300 block of 56th Avenue on September 30, 2009.
