In the early morning hours of a late November day, the quiet of the Kentland area in Prince George's County, Maryland, was broken by a discovery that would leave a family grappling with unanswered questions for years to come. Hyshon M. McNair, a 30-year-old male who worked in home improvement, was found lifeless between two buildings on Hawthorne Street on November 28, 2006. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
