In the early morning hours of November 26, 2018, the body of 54-year-old Michael Malik Evans was discovered on East Suffolk Avenue, near the intersection of Church Street in Central Islip, New York. It was determined that Evans, a homeless man who also went by the first name Malik, had been fatally shot. The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad immediately began an investigation into his death.
