On the morning of October 19, 2018, 30-year-old Demetrius Winfield, a male resident of Hempstead, NY, was fatally shot on Wellesley Street in his hometown. At approximately 10:54 a.m., while on a break from his job, Winfield was speaking with a friend when two men opened fire. The assailants fired at least 15 shots in a rapid 14-second burst. Winfield was struck in the face, chest, and groin and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His friend was also wounded in the attack but survived.
