On a summer day in New Orleans, on July 28, 2015, the life of 36-year-old Mervin Riley Jr. was tragically cut short. Known to his friends and family as 'Swerve,' he was a lifelong resident of the city. A graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School, he was employed at Parkcrest Builders, LLC and was a father.
In the St. Claude area of New Orleans, Riley was fatally wounded by gunfire. The incident was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department and his death was classified as a homicide.
