On a summer evening in 2014, a 19-year-old Black male named Jahzeph Crooks was fatally shot inside a liquor store in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. The young man was with his sister on their way to a barbecue on August 29th, in a part of the borough they had never visited before.
