Joseph Riley, a 26-year-old resident of Fresno, California, tragically lost his life on December 14, 2022. The incident occurred at the Superior Smoke Shop located at Blackstone and Princeton Avenues. On that fateful day, the Fresno Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation and found Riley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being transported to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Alongside Riley, a 19-year-old man was also shot in the face but survived and was listed in stable condition.
The investigation revealed that three suspects had entered the smoke shop and waited for Riley and the other victim to arrive. Upon their entry, the suspects opened fire, causing both victims to flee the store. The suspects continued to shoot at them as they ran outside. The suspects then fled the scene before the police arrived. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the suspects were not immediately identified.
However, a breakthrough in the case came when detectives identified two of the suspects as Tishawn Thorton, 20, and Sircharles Bradshaw, 16. Both suspects were charged with murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. They were considered armed and dangerous, prompting authorities to urge the public to provide any information that could lead to their arrest. The investigation into Riley's murder continued as detectives sought to bring all responsible parties to justice.
