In the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, on the evening of November 20, 2013, the lives of two young men were tragically cut short in a burst of violence. Twenty-one-year-old Verdell Lewis, a male, was discovered inside a residence on Lafaye Street, having succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Alongside him, authorities found 22-year-old Kerry Pierre, who had been shot in the head. Pierre was initially alive when emergency services arrived but later died at a local hospital.
